Cheryl and Julia were there to meet me at Union station when my train pulled in. Cheryl being the ever so friendly hostess that she is was even waiting for me with an extra large triple triple from Tim Horton’s. We had some fun times trying to leave the parking garage she was parked in as we could not find where to pay to get out. After some walking around and the 3 of us being totally lost we decided to use the credit card to pay to get out and we were on our way. We arrived at Cheryl’s much later than planned but still had a good time. I got to meet her very quiet husband who I think wasn’t too sure of us and her 2 wonderful, beautiful children. Her kids stole a piece of my heart that night. Seeing as how we are all bloggers it wasn’t very long until we all had the laptops out and were tweeting about the visit. Cheryl’s oldest was playing shy with us so I put on the Gummy Bear song and in no time I was her new best friend.
We even managed to capture Julia dancing to it and giving us all a great show. Please ignore my laughter I couldn’t help it.
We did go to bed rather late AKA 12:30 but that is typical for Cheryl and I. What I didn’t count on was how early we had to be up the next morning. I had set my alarm for 6:30 but hit snooze a few too many times. At 7:30 I heard Cheryl knocking on the door asking if I was going to wake up. Did I mention we were supposed to leave at 7:15? Thankfully I showered before leaving home and I don’t even know what make-up is. After quickly getting dressed we were on the road in Toronto traffic.
To say that Toronto traffic sucks is putting it lightly. The only bright side to the drive was that the company was fantastic. It took us an hour to get to where the conference was being held and we ended up being fashionably late. We missed the Kobo demo and I missed breakfast but there was coffee there to greet me. I was ready to start my day at ShesConnected. Or at least I thought I was ready.
