Last night we got to go see The Wiggles Big Birthday Tour as it made its stop in Ottawa. We had been to see them live 2 years ago and I had such wonderful memories of the night that I couldn’t wait to go again. Not only is Little Man older so would participate more but Tobei was home to come with us this time.
We arrived at Scotiabank Place just as the doors were opening as I was not sure how bad traffic would be. We skipped past the $25 t-shirts (still had the one from the last tour) and Tobei and Little Man headed straight for the cotton candy. Before the show was anywhere near started Little Man had finished an entire bag of cotton candy and you could tell the sugar was in full force. I was ready for the show to start and to dance and sing with my son.
The Wiggles did not disappoint. They brought high energy, our favorite songs and the entire show was interactive. Kids everywhere were up dancing and singing along, except my kid. I guess he is either a) shyer than I though or b) easily embarrassed by his mother. I vote a little from each column. He actually pushed me away at one point and told me to stop. I can’t believe my 4 year old is already embarrassed by his mother. For the last song I did put the camera away and that is when Little Man finally got up to dance and even did not mind that mommy was dancing with him. Note to self: Next time leave the camera at home if that is what it takes for your kid to enjoy the show with you. Don’t get me wrong, he did enjoy the show and was clapping along and laughing but he would not get up and dance.
Jeff was not there as he recently had some health issues with his heart and had to have a pacemaker put in. Brad came to fill his place and though Jeff was missed, Brad did an excellent job at filling in the void.
The only negative for me was the amount of time they took reading the signs. Though I can appreciate them wanting to acknowledge all the signs and all the children, it did drag on a little too long for me. Otherwise another 2 thumbs up for a show well done. I would expect nothing less from The Wiggles.
To The Wiggles, thank you for another night with great memories and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Disclosure: My family and I received complimentary tickets to attend the show in exchange for an unbiased review. As always all opinions are our own.
