Friday night Tobei and I were heading out to do our taxes (bad I know, they were due months ago) and we were at a red light waiting for the green turn signal. We hear sirens and are trying to figure out where they are coming from. We finally see a firetruck coming from the right. Cool we don’t need to move.
We then see it slow down and come to a complete stop in the intersection. I figure the firetruck is waiting for some dumbass to move their car out of the way. Then I noticed a police car that came from the other direction. It too is at a complete stop at the intersection. Now we are wondering WTF is going on. There are about 5 cars in front of us so we can’t see anything in the intersection.
At this point I am starting to wonder if there is an accident or something in the intersection that we can’t see. I start planning a way to get around this intersection and get to where we need to go. Right about that point the police car makes his turn and goes on his way and the firetruck goes straight and goes on his way. Actually the firetruck was going into the gas station just across the intersection as there was a police car there and some kind of emergency going on.
So then I figured maybe they were arguing over who got to go first. Tobei says the firetruck because it is bigger and is more likely to save someone or something than the police car.
Now I want to know…. Who has the right of way when it comes to emergency vehicles?
