Almost a year ago I wrote a post with my views on gay marriage and the don’t ask don’t tell policy. Today while catching up on the news I was ecstatic to hear that the day has finally come and the US has lifted the ban on openly gay military personnel. Good bye Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Hello rights, benefits and equal treatment for gay military personnel in the US military.
After years of debate and months of final preparations, the U.S. military can no longer prevent gays from serving openly in its ranks.
Repeal of a 1993 law that allowed gays to serve only so long as they kept their sexual orientation private took effect Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. ET.
