Well I guess I haven’t been doing too well with this challenge. I am trying. Really I am. Just by the time Tobei gets home from work I want to do nothing as Little Man has been trying on my nerves lately. However Tobei is home and has banished me to the office until dinner time. Might as well make use of that time right?
Day 3 – Promote a Blog Post
Today they have us looking at different ways to promote a blog post. I do this all the time. As soon as one of my post goes live it automatically posts to my facebook like page and my facebook profile for Nolie’s Place. I also link it up on twitter a few times a day. Another great way I find is on blogs that have CommentLuv enabled. If you register you are actually able to pick form your last couple of posts which one you want to show in your comment so it doesn’t have to be the last one you did.
Another suggestion which I also try to do whenever possible is to link to your old posts in current posts. I try to do this whenever I am mentioning something previously posted. So while I have your attention and to show you a great example of what I mean how about you take a moment and go read my post on my recommended wordpress plugins. See what I just did? I promoted one of my own blog posts in this post. It is also a great way to increase the amount of time someone spends on your site.
Day 4 – Analyze a Top Blog In Your Niche
Well that title is pretty much self-explanatory. So first thing I did was head over to Top Mommy Blogs – Mom Blog Directory. Oh that is a link to vote for Nolie’s Place as well. Either click where it says click here to vote to send me some voting love or click no thanks to go straight to the site and not vote for me. Though I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to vote for me. Anyways next I went and picked a category that I thought would find me top blogs closest to me. I picked family life in case you were wondering, and started checking out the top ones. Well I am playing catch up so didn’t spend too long checking it the top rated ones. However in the time I did spend I realized a few things.
- The blogs I found most appealing to the eye had solid backgrounds and were VERY clean looking.
- I really need to expand my circle of blogs I enjoy and people I meet. I seem to be stuck in a comfortable rut. Ruts are not good.
- I still have leaps and bounds to grow and am once again very thankful to be attending Blissdom Canada this fall.
This could be a very long list but I will leave it summed up as I did. I just know I got lots of work to do and Day 4 was so kind to remind me of that.
