Day 14 – Update A Key Page To Your Blog
So this afternoon Little Man goes for his nap and I decide to sit down at my computer and tackle day 14 of this challenge. This idea quickly went out the window when I read what today was about. It says to update a key page to your blog. That could be your about me page (you do have one right?), you contacts page, your best of page and it could even mean just cleaning up your sidebars.
The point of todays task is best summed up by saying it is time to do some spring cleaning. We all set up wonderful pages on our blogs that make it quick for a new reader to learn about us and see our best posts. We love to put great events in our sidebars or buttons of blogs we love. Then we keep on blogging while never looking back at those things. Sidebars can get cluttered, your about me page can get outdated, those posts you thought were the “best of” may have been seen a million times and need to be replaced with new “best of” posts. Sometimes we need to go back and re-look at everything outside of our actual posts. Heck it could even mean giving your site a face lift with a new banner or button or just redo it all.
Today is the time to dust away the cobwebs and spring new life into your overall blog. I have been doing small changes lately as I realized myself I needed to clean up a bit. We all know about the new banner and button I got. I bet you guys are enjoying seeing my lovely face now. If you don’t, well lie to me and pretend you do. I also made a list today of what I need to do to spring clean my site. Being the picky person I am I could not tackle the list today. Instead I wrote it down and will tackle it as time permits.
Nolie’s To Do List
- Clean up sidebars and make them more organized and better put together.
- Spruce up my About Me page
- Change out posts in Best of Nolie’s Place
- Find a way to incorporate some more color besides purple into the blog.
What I did manage to do
- I installed TweetMeMe which makes it easier for my reader to tweet my posts.
- I installed facebook like plugin which appears at the bottom of each post now so that readers can “like” my posts.
- I installed RSS Footer plugin. I am still playing with this plugin.
So that is my to do list. Take a look at your blog. What needs a face lift? Is your About Me page still 100% perfect or could you re-write it? You do have an About Me page right? What changes even just minor would you like to make to your blog?
