Are you wearing red today?
So while I was hanging out on twitter last night with other ladies doing the Ultimate Blog Party I had commented for people not to forget to wear red tomorrow. I had someone ask me why would everyone wear red. This was an army wife to to an American soldier. It was in that moment that I realized Red Friday wasn’t as well known as one could hope. I asked her if they did this in the states and she told me not that she knew of. I have briefly explained Red Friday before in a previous post. However also visit The Red Friday Ladies on facebook to get a better understanding of it.
Now I was going to post a video of some sort here. Was trying to find the perfect one. However while searching I realized I had something more important to say then “Here watch this video”. What I want to say has to do with those who refuse to wear red as they think it means they support the war. Wearing red is NOT about supporting the war. It is about supporting the troops, the men and women risking their lives because they took an oath to protect our country and go where the military tells them to. Showing the families who are are at home worried until their family member comes home that we got their back and support them through this time. The troops are people, they have families and people who love them, people who won’t leave the house without a phone in case they miss a call from their loved ones.
The next time you see a military member thank them. Thank you goes a very long way. If you know a family that is going through a separation due to a deployment, tasking, course etc. let them know you are there for them. It can be very lonely when your loved one is gone and one can feel like they have no one there to help through this time. So wear your red and wear it proud. You have no idea how much it means to those you are showing support for.
