I did it!!! Yesterday I got on the road again with Young Drivers. If you read my blog post beginning my driving journey again you would know that I have not driven in years. You would also know that I have decided it is time to finally become a fully licensed driver and no more excuses.
I was super nervous before my instructor came and picked me up. In fact I even took some pepto bismal. However within seconds of meeting my instructor. He knew my history and he was friendly and approachable. He explained his teaching style which is talking you through everything (awesome in my opinion) and we were on our way.
I was in car with him for an hour. 3 minutes into the drive we were on the major road around here that is usually always busy and the “suggested” speed limit as people like to call it is 80 km/h. I did great though. We didn’t stay on it too long just used it to get to the next residential area.
We practiced a bunch of left hand and right hand turns. Found out I need to practice the break/gas mechanics of turns a bit more but otherwise I did pretty good. We did some curb side parking (curbs can kiss my your know what). We did a 3 point turn and YAY for me it was a 3 point turn and not a 6 point turn.
We then went to a parking lot and did some parking. Pull thru spots, backing in spots, left spot, right spot. Basically all the different scenarios you meet in a parking lot. I did pretty darn good.
I am on a high so to speak now and can’t wait to drive again. According to my instructor he has full confidence that we can load the family up in the car and have me do the driving. That is super exciting.
I can’t wait for my next lesson and I also can’t wait to do some driving in my vehicle. Watch out world. This mama is ready to have her freedom.
