Saturday as you all know by now was a big day for me. Getting behind the wheel is a huge part of my life right now and though I am sure you are sick of hearing about it 3 days in a row I HAVE to share these conversation with my 5 year old on Saturday.
Conversation 1
Doorbell Rings
BB – Who is it? (as he goes to run for the door)
Me – It’s not for you. It’s the person to take mommy driving.
BB – But you don’t know how to drive mommy.
Me – That is the point buddy, mommy is going to go learn how.
Conversation 2
Setting: I just walk in the door, BB is upstairs in the bathroom. This is all done via yelling.
BB – Mommy is that you?
Me – Yes it is
BB – Do you know how to drive now?
Me – Yes
BB – YAY!!!
Conversation 3
Setting: 4:30pm Daddy is about to make dinner.
BB – I want some ice cream.
Me – Well if you eat all your dinner maybe we can all go to the store for ice cream and mommy will drive.
BB – Ya, I want to see you drive mommy.
Me – OK, well after dinner.
Few minutes pass and I am outside. BB opens door.
BB – Mommy I got my shoes on already.
Me – I said AFTER dinner buddy.
BB – Fine ok.
Conversation 4
Setting: Sitting in car as I am adjusting mirrors and stuff.
BB – Daddy that is your spot now. You sit where mommy always sat. Mommy is going to drive everywhere now.
Ever heard of GPS? I got BBPS
Big Brother decided to be my little navigator. Gave me all directions to the store and then to Tim Hortons.
Praises From a 5 Year Old
As I drove he would say “good job mommy”, “you are a good driver mommy” and other random little praises. It made my heart melt. Once we got home he again told me what a good job I did. To have my 5 year old be so proud of me and say such encouraging words totally made my day. I was already on a high from driving but my 5 year old made my day one of the best days ever that I will never forget.
