It has been some time since I shared a good old fashion blog post. Not worrying about SEO, perfect pictures, pinterest worthy etc. Sometimes we get caught up in the business of blogging and forget about why we started. So I am setting a goal to make at least every Friday a good old fashion old school blog post.
The moment Little Brother was born there was no doubt Tobei was his father. Tobei has very strong genes and Little Brother was born looking just like his dad. However that is not where it stopped. He has his fathers attitude, habits and worse of all grace or lack of.
Our first Like Father Like Son “Grace” moment came when Little Brother lost a battle with the babygate and the babygate won his fingertip as its prize.
Next up was the learning to walk stage. This kid fell down so many times it wasn’t funny. Of course he could never fall and not have an injury. He becamse famous for faceplanting and I always had to make sure to have ice in the freezer ready to go to battle the bleeding lip to keep it from becoming a fat lip.
Now comes the school years and the whole reason behind this post. Growing up Tobei NEVER had a school picture where he did not have a cut or bruise on his face. The morning of picture day he would always somehow manage to injure himself before he could get his picture taken. Well our youngest is carrying on this tradition….. kind of.
Picture day comes and we send the kids off to school clean faced and clean clothed. All is going well when my phone rings. “Hi, this is the school calling. I am calling to let you know Little Brother tripped coming out of the bathroom and fell into the door. A giant bump formed right away and he does have a cut on his forehead, the bleeding has stopped though.”
Seriously!!! Now this is probably where the new receptionist probably thinks I am the worst mother ever. My first question to her was “Did he at least have his picture taken already?” Her answer was yes. So at least he will have a non injured face for his first school photo, unlike his father.
This folks is the life I live. My youngest is a klutz. I am very thankful I am first aid trained and the school has been warned.
Do you have a child who lacks grace?
