Today I went bra shopping at La Senza for the first time ever. Yes you read that right. At 28 years old I have never been shopping for a real bra.
Now I couldn’t go do it alone. Oh no, I had to bring the family with me. By family I mean Tobei, Little Man, my mom and my Aunt. OK well only my mom came into the actual store with me. Everyone else stayed outside.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I have never been bra shopping. Just for me bra shopping means going to Wal-Mart and trying on every bra that looks comfortable and has no wires. My mom calls them granny bras and likes to make fun of me. So today I told her fine she could take me bra shopping. Everyone else came along for the walk.
Soon as we got in the store they measured me for my size. 1 point for Nolie, I have been buying the right size. Take that mother and your insisting that I am not wearing the right size. Then it was time to actually bra shop. The sales lady pointed me to the direction of the 2 for $36 racks. I like that price. I am now standing in La Senza telling my mother that no I do not want the leopard one, one with jewels on the straps or the one that is has more padding then a maxi pad. Then she tries to get me to pick a camo print one. I kindly remind her that Tobei is Navy not Army. She still insists but in the end I win.
I am boring I guess you would say, or at least my mother said. I ended up going with a plain black one and a plain nude colored one. They are nice and simple and work just fine for me. Especially for my first non Wal-Mart bra. Tobei tried to convince me to go in and buy 2 more. I told him I will…. when we get back home. Too much stress in one shopping trip for me already.
Oh yes let’s not forget the kicker. My lovely well meaning mother pointed out that I look skinnier now with a proper fitting bra. Yes mother, my girls are no longer at my stomach and stick out more. I guess I have now learned how to look skinny. Wear bras that make your boobs stand at attention. They better be comfortable or I will go back to looking non skinny. I take comfort over looks any day. This is why I live in pajamas.
