We all know how hectic life can be. Very often it seems like there are not enough hours in the day. We have work, school, extra curricular activities, homework, dinner … well you get my point. We also know how fast our kids grow up. Even Big Brother who is 4, it seems like just yesterday he was born.
Life slips away from us and we need to actually focus on making time for playing with our kids. I know I am not the best at this and well this pregnancy is not helping either. Now that Big Brother is in school I have made a point that when he gets home I take at least 10 minutes to go through what he has brought home from school with him. Many times there will be a note with a new song they are learning. So we will sing the song together. Sometimes more times than I care to but he enjoys it so who am I to say no.
When Tobei gets home from work that is his time with Big Brother. They will play and hang out and many times play some stupid computer game that Big Brother LOVES and asks for as soon as Tobei gets home. Bath time is also a fantastic time for playing. Who says the bath is just to get clean? Big Brother has little army figurines and they will play with them for a good 20 minutes. Bath time in this house is never shorter than half an hour unless Big Brother is in a terrible mood and needs to go to bed.
Of course there is the park thing and playing in the back yard and all the other “usual” activities that I don’t need to mention.
I guess my point is we just need to make the time as hard as it is to spend with our kids and make memories. In the grand scheme of life we have a small window to do it.
Of course I and I am sure readers of Nolie’s Place could all use more ideas to make time for play. So leave a comment on how you make time in your house and we can all get ideas from one another.
