Summer has arrived which means it is time to install the portable air conditioner. One day I will own a house and make sure it has central air. With the installing of portable air conditioner comes the need to take out and clean an air conditioner filter.
First let’s discuss how to PROPERLY clean an air conditioner filter.
Step 1: Remove filter from Unit
Step 2: Clean filter under running water
Step 3: Put filter back in unit.
Now let’s discuss how NOT to clean an air conditioner filter AKA how me and my best friend do it.
Step 1: Remove filter from unit.
Step 2: Clean filter under running water.
so far so good…
Step 3: Try to put filter back in air conditioner. Realize it is not going in. Upon further inspection you notice there seems to be 2 tabs stopping the filter from going back in. Have Nolie pull back on front of air conditioner while best friend forcefully inserts filter.
Step 4: Notice filter is now jammed in there and not sure how it will come out again. Decide who cares at least it is clean and back in there.
Step 5: Best friend notices there is a slot on each side of AC. One is side you are SUPPOSED to slide filter back into. Other side is side you inserted filter into. Put 2 and 2 together and realize those tabs are to STOP the filter from going further when you insert it on proper side.
Step 6: Have best friend pull plastic on front of air conditioner forward while you use a butter knife to pry jammed filter out of air conditioner.
Step 7: Easily slide filter back into air conditioner via the proper side it is to go in on.
Step 8: Plug air conditioner in and enjoy the cool air as you are now sweating your ass off from doing it all wrong.
