Happy Valentine’s Day
Tobei and I went out for our date night yesterday for Valentine’s Day. It was the first time we ever really did something that involved just the two of us and a night on the town for Valentine’s Day. We got a babysitter for Little Man and left home at 2 in the afternoon.
We started off by going for a couple’s massage at Dolce Bella Spa. It was the first time I ever went to this particular spa and it won’t be the last. The spa sits on the Kingston harbour and the lounge overlooks the harbour. For winter it was a wonderful view. I can only imagine it in the summer. I have to make a point to go back in the summer.
After our massages we headed over to The Grizzly Grill for dinner. It is one of our favourite places to go for a date night and the only place I go for dancing. However tonight there would be no dancing. It was all about just the two of us. Though I am not brave enough to try their exotic dishes like alligator and ostrich I did enjoy my beef tenderloin and Tobei enjoyed his venison. I can not stand the site of pink and they always manage to cook my beef to perfection, no pink yet still tender. We finished off dinner with the deep-fried cheesecake as we always do. I think it is the part I most look forward to. As usual it was to die for, I even ate more than just my half. Tobei does love me. We also had perfect seating right beside the fire. This was the view from our table. My purse was actually sitting on the ledge around it.
After dinner we stopped by to visit my dad and my step-mom. We really didn’t have an excuse seeing as how we parked at their building. We stayed for a coffee then left as we had reservations at the Residence Inn Marriott on the Kingston waterfront. It is a new hotel that was just opened in the fall. Having stayed at many Kingston hotels I was looking forward to a new one. Checking in left me worried, there were kids EVERYWHERE and they were using the lounge right off the lobby as a place to gather. Oh they were loud. Tobei and I had also packed bathing suits in hopes of enjoying the pool and hot tub. However we never got the chance to as the kids took it over. This was to be a quiet night for us. Thankfully the staff put us on a higher floor away from the kids and the noise.
The room was amazing. We could not believe how nicely it was decorated. The only thing I didn’t like was the bed. I barely got any sleep. Not because we were trying for baby #2 but because the bed was so hard that I was not comfortable. I am not sure though if it was because of the bed being hard or me being spoiled by our super comfy bed we bought ourselves a few months ago. A hot breakfast buffet is included in the rate but we did not go for breakfast. No way was I risking the noise from all those kids when mine was at home and I am not a morning person. Overall though it was a great experience and I would probably stay there again given my choices of waterfront hotels.
Today I plan on making valentine cookies with Little Man and playing Kinectanimals with him as we bought it for him for Valentine’s Day. We also need to fill out his valentine cards for his classmates for school on Tuesday as they are having a party. Hopefully it will be a nice and relaxing day.
What did you are you doing for Valentine’s Day?
