It is hard to believe that 4 years ago Little Man was born. The past 4 years have gone by just as my labour did with him. FAST! It seems like just yesterday I was up all night crying because he wouldn’t eat and I knew he was hungry. I sat in the basement crying for hours until my mom woke up to my tears to come help me. There have been many phone calls to my mom since then but I think I have done a pretty good job at this mothering thing.
Little Man is a stubborn child, he gets it from both his parents. When he has his mind set on something that is just the way it is. But he is a very loving boy. Welcoming everyone with open arms. There to give hugs and kisses when needed and even when not needed. He loves puzzles, stickers and anything Toy Story. He is also such an independent child. It is actually kind of scary knowing that at the age of 4 my little boy doesn’t need me all the time.
Example: Today he wanted a “baby snack” as he calls it. It’s a child sized cereal bar. I told him we were all out. So he went to the kitchen grabbed some crackers and a juice box and went and had a picnic on my bedroom floor while he watched one of his shows.
He gets so mad at me when I call him my baby. “NO! I’M A BIG BOY!” he will yell at me. One day he will realize he will always be my baby. That is just the way it works. I am very lucky to be his mom and to get to call him my son. Everyone told me enjoy every minute because they grow up so fast. I never believed them. Yet here I sit on the evening before he turns 4 while he sleeps upstairs and it feels like just yesterday I was playing my last poker tournament online before holding my son in my arms. Yes ladies and gentlemen. I stayed up all night the night before he was born playing a poker tournament online. Only reason I quit the tournament was because my water broke and I had to go to the hospital.
