How To Handle Raising Boys ~ Homemaker Monday

You would think that raising all boys would come with an instruction manual but it doesn’t. Raising all boys isn’t easy and sometimes it requires a bit of different instruction than raising genders of the opposite sex.

How to Handle Raising All Boys

#1. Patience is Key

You can’t raise al boys without having some sort of patience. It’s important that you take your time when it comes to listening and explain things.

#2. Understanding is Crucial

Your boys will most likely get into a lot of chaos (if that’s what you want to call it). Make sure you take the time to understand your child as much as possible. Of course, this also means being understanding when the times call for it.

#3. Messes Will Happen

If you’re a mom who doesn’t like to dig into messes, you might want to consider changing that. Boys love digging in dirt to find worms, playing hard in the yard, and chugging their tractors around. Try to understand that messes will happen, when you have all boys and all you can do is let it roll of your shoulders.

#4. Teach Empathy

Your boys need to know about empathy, but this can be hard to teach. If someone is hurting, they need to understand that person is “hurting.” This is an important skill you will want your boys to understand. Don’t forget that empathy and sympathy are two different things.

#5. Talk it Out

Some people who are raising boys are under the impression that boys don’t need to know how to communicate or express how they feel. This is so far from the truth. You can handle raising all boys by teaching them how to talk about how they feel and express it emotionally. The better they can express their feelings, the less frustration they will build up.

#6. Divide the Responsibility

Mom can’t be expected to do everything around the house. That’s why it’s important to divide the responsibility among your boys. Give them small things to do to help you out around the house. There’s nothing wrong with a little responsibility here and there as you raise your house full of boys.

#7. Enjoy Every Moment

There might be some moments that you feel like pulling your hair out, and there might be some moments you feel like your heart just melted. Either way, just remember to enjoy this journey because it won’t last forever.
