What a wonderful afternoon I just had. I originally met Cheryl online last year and had started reading her blog The Beautiful Side of Hectic. She was a gracious host who played hotel and taxi when I attended ShesConnected and she was my roommate at Blissdom Canada. At Blissdom Canada is where our friendship took off in a way I never thought it would. We stayed up late so many nights sharing our lives with one another. In fact we became so close that I helped her change into her bathing suit. No we are not weirdo’s. Cheryl had just been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and needed help changing. I guess it was a sign of the friendship that was forming.
New Year’s Eve Tobei and I brought Little Man and the dog to Toronto and stayed with Cheryl and her family to celebrate. Or at least Tobei, Cheryl and I did. Adam fell asleep on us putting the kids to bed. It was a great evening and before I knew it, it was time to go home. That was the last time I had seen Cheryl. I had been bugging her for months to come visit but between family responsibilities and other life crap she hasn’t been able to make it down. That is until today!!!
Cheryl drove 6 hours round trip today just to come visit little ol’ me. It was so nice to see her again even if it was just a few hours. It was a glorious few hours though. Not only did I get some girl time with such a great friend but she spoiled me and brought me for a pedicure. The only thing that could have made it better was if the woman doing my pedicure would have shut up and stopped interupting our conversation to try to convince me to let her paint some design on my toes.
Luckily I get to see Cheryl again in 2 weeks as she is going to come to the Toronto Zoo with us when we are up in Toronto. After that who knows when I will get to see her though as I am moving even farther away from her where a day trip won’t be possible. Thankfully we have what brought us together in the first place, the internet.
