Do you love decorating for Halloween? If you have younger children around you want to decorate, but don’t want anything too scary. Or maybe you don’t want to scare away little kids that are trick or treating at your house.
There are lots of cool family friendly Halloween decoration ideas that are family and kid friendly. Just modify any Halloween decorations by making faces funny instead of scary (think smiling Jack-O-Lanterns instead of ones with scary teeth!)
One cute idea for a family friendly Halloween decoration is to hang up lights and put plastic cups over the lights. Draw cute ghost faces on the cups first. This is fun inside the house, but you can also do this and hang some on the front porch if you like. You could also use ping pong balls and draw funny eyeballs on them.
Luminaries made from Mason Jars, or even milk jugs, can brighten up the walkway and look welcoming. You can make these look like pumpkins or Jack-O-Lanterns with a little paint or markers.
You can take mini pumpkins and carve friendly faces on them. Do as many as you’d like to display in your yard. You can find sturdy sticks out in the backyard or use dowels and paint them black. You could line your walkway or driveway with the cute pumpkins on a stick.
Cobwebs can sometimes scare little ones, but now you can find them in many different colors or just paint them yourself with brighter colors. Glow in the dark paint could be fun, too, or neon colors.
Ghosts are always simple to make from white sheets and some stuffing for the head. You can glue on eyes and mouths made of construction paper, or again use paint or markers. If you make some templates first, then the kids can help you make them. You can hang them from the porch, or use the stick method to have them stand up in the yard to welcome your neighborhood trick or treaters.
Have fun decorating for a family friendly Halloween and let all the kids enjoy coming up to your house for treats.
How do you make Halloween less scary for your younger visitors?
