I am not going to lie. One of my favourite parts of being a blogger is the wonderful experiences it offers to my family. Last night was no exception as were headed off to see Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy. We are huge Disney lovers and have attended every Disney on Ice show that has come to town.
Last night started off in pure Disney Magic. The wonderful team at Canadian Tire Centre invited us to arrive early for a special meet and greet. That was all we knew. No idea who we would be meeting. We were led into one of the meeting rooms and then in walked Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Little Brother actions were more than words could say of the excitement in the room as he went running into the arms of Minnie. Memories were being made. This after all is what family is all about.
We had an hour to spare before the show started after the meet and greet so we hit up the area concession stand to grab us dinner then went and hung out in our seats. We did pass souvenir booths and popcorn/snow cone booths but this frugal mom found the prices to be insane so skipped out on the extra indulgence. Thankfully my kids didn’t mind.
7pm arrived, the lights dimmed and the show started. I watched my kids as their faces lit up as the hosts of the show (Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy) took to the ice.
I loved that Worlds of Fantasy was introducing us to new characters on the ice. After the hosts took to backstage we watched in awe as the characters of Cars came to rescue the broken down vehicle of our hosts. This was the highlight of the night for Big Brother. He yelled their names as they came out, cheered along with the characters and clapped like he had never clapped before.
We then got to watch the mini story of the love between Ariel and Eric in The Little Mermaid. I have to be honest, I love The Little Mermaid but this was my least favourite part of the show. Don’t get me wrong. It is Disney on Ice so of course it was good just was the part I liked the least. I found Ariel to be a good skater and she shined when it was her time to put on a skating show but her acting skills left something to be desired. Of course the kids didn’t care, just my adult perspective.
Hands down Tinker Bell was my favourite part of the show. I am a little biased though as we met her during our vacation to Disney World and she was my favourite meet and greet for her interaction with my kids. I loved seeing all the fairies come to life on the ice. Tobei also really enjoyed this part of the show.
Like they sensed we needed a bathroom break it was time for intermission. I am usually not a fan of intermissions but they are necessary when you are at a show with kids. We were all happy to have a few minutes to stretch our legs and visit the bathroom. My only critic of the intermission is there was no warning that the show was about to begin. It would have been nice to have a 5 minute and 3 minute warning for everyone to be able to get back to their seats.
The second half of the show was all about Toy Story. Little Brother LOVES Toy Story. His favourite toy to play with is his Woody doll we bought him when we went to Disney World. It was now his turn to yell for Buzz and Woody as Big Brother yelled all the other character names as they came out on the ice. Both my kids were completely into the show and following along with Toy Story.
The Toy Story segment took up the entire last half of Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy. My husband said he felt like we watched the entire movie. Little Brother started to nod off (it was however past his bed time) and Big Brother started to get antsy. Seriously though, our only complaint really.
We had a great family night out and overall we all really enjoyed Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy. If you can get out to see it with the kids I totally recommend it.
