So I am about 24 hours late getting up this weeks Homemaker Monday. So sorry about that, Tobei has been away for 2 months for work and just got home this week-end. Needless to say computer time and my schedule was the furthest thing from my mind.
Sometimes we tend to focus on ways to turn the inside of our house into a home. We pick up toys, decorate with a new throw pillow or clean up the book shelf, but we forget about how to make our yard an inviting place to spend time. With the weather starting to turn warmer, it’s time to spend a few minutes outside creating an inviting environment in your own backyard.
Clear out Old Growth
Kids need a safe place to play in the backyard. So now is a great time to clean up old tree limbs that might have fallen in the snow storms and rake up any decorative grasses that may have spread their leaves all over the yard.
Clean up the outdoor toys
If your kids play with trucks, cars or nerf guns, get them out and check them for broken pieces, jagged edges or missing parts. If they’re still good, keep them. If they have broken through the winter months, toss them out.
Get the deck ready
Take a look at your yard furniture. Do you need to scrub down the chairs so guests will want to sit and rest? Does your deck need new paint or can you get by with just sweeping or washing? Is your grill ready for a Spring cook out? Do you need to replace your propane tank?
Pump up the Air
If your family enjoy playing a pick up game of HORSE or kicking around a soccer ball, check the air. Do you need to pump up the balls or bicycle tires so you’re ready for a ride around the block? Are the kids bikes still the right size? If not, can you pass them down to a friend or younger cousin?
Getting ready for Spring involves more than just cleaning the windows or dusting the living room. Let’s move outside and welcome the warmer weather with some family time outdoors!
