Hi there all you visitors of Nolie’s Place. Tobei here to share an awesome experience my wife and I shared on the Thursday. You see, I have always wanted to see a live Cirque du Soleil show for as long as I’ve known about it. And we were finally offered a chance to go to Cirque du Solei Totem by none other than Cirque du Soleil! I have to tell you I was stoked. When we started walking toward the bigtop tent I felt like a child again, full of wonder and just giddy with excitement.
Working our way through the crowds inside the refreshment area we went to purchase a couple of drinks for the show. Noting with a gasp that a bottle of water was $5.00, I ordered a water, and Nolie, a Coke. When the young man behind the counter gave us our beverages, Nolie had to ask why she wasn’t given a cap for her Coke and yet, my water still had one. He pointed out that, but of course, the Coke was free. He was also nice enough to allow me to switch my water for a Coke with only a dash of awkwardness.
As we were exploring the refreshment vendor area we noticed there were a couple of Rogers charging stations for mobile devices with different plugs for each. Nice touch really.
At this point, we decided to make our way to our seats, and as soon as we entered the performance / seating area of the Cirque Du Soleil Totem bigtop it had to be said that the AC was quite impressive. It was 30’C outside, and inside there it must have been almost 10 degrees cooler. Also, we had just come in from outside, so we were a little blind. Much to our surprise and relief there were ushers waiting just inside with flashlights at the ready to show us to our seats. And the seats… We were eye level with the Cirque Du Soleil Totem stage, dead center, right next to the aisle. Perfect seats.
As the hundreds of other audience members made their way to their seats we saw ushers hard at work to ensure nobody was fumbling around lost in the dim lighting. Just as most of the seats were beginning to fill a few comical performers began making their way through the audience, keeping us distracted from the wait, and engaged in their antics. I must say, it was very smart. At one point we were laughing so hard, this one performer was leading a couple of ladies through the audience, holding their tickets hostage while acting as an usher. Up and down the aisles he lead these two ladies, around and around in circles until he eventually up-rooted a young man in the front row and sat both ladies down in the same seat, handed them their tickets and continued on his hysterical journey through the crowd.

Then the announcer came on and welcomed us to the show, the lights dimming, and we were transported into a wonder filled magical evening of Cirque Du Soleil Totem, packed with ooohs, ahhhs, laughs, edge of your seat nail biting danger, and emotional awe inspiring performances. Most of the show I was so engaged I forgot to clap! I haven’t been this entertained by a live show in my life, and definitely look forward to future Cirque du Soleil performances.
