I am always on the lookout for new games to play on the iPad. So when Big Fish Games reached out to me asking if I wanted to review Midnight Castle for the iPad I was all over that. Was just a bonus that they also wanted me to share a sweepstakes with my readers, more on that later.
About Midnight Castle
Midnight Castle is a beautiful hidden object adventure, where players need to find hidden objects that will help them on their quest through a magical estate to learn the fate of a deceased uncle. During your quests, you will need to gain the trust of the occupants of Midnight Castleand earn gold along the way, which you do by successfully completing each quest. Use your in-game gold to unlock additional game scenes or areas of interest.
Keep in mind, not all quest items can be found, some must be made. Use the castle laboratory to craft smaller items into the more powerful artifacts you seek. In addition, you will encounter whimsical enchanted beasts during your journey that will become your pets and aid you in finding needed items. The objective of all these quest is to collect keys you will need to gain access to the castle’s Mystery Chamber, where you will learn the truth behind your Uncle’s demise.
Midnight Castle Review
I am a huge junkie of hidden object games. I love that I can just sit back, relax and not use many brain cells to have to play the game. Sorry but as a mom there are some evenings where the kids go to bed and the last thing I want to do is actually have to think. My main problem though is like I said I am a junkie, which means I can start playing and 6 hours later I am sitting there going CRAP I should have been in bed hours ago. Midnight Castle for the iPad makes sure this doesn’t happen. The different rooms you need to find items in are on refresh timers. Once you find the hidden objects for that locations you have to actually wait a random amount of time before you can go back to that location. Since many quests require you to go back to the same location you are left with no choice but to walk away from the game and come back later. For me, this is a good thing.
I also really like that it is story and quest based. This gives me a purpose unlike other games where you just keep doing the same location over and over to the point you have all the hidden object locations memorized and the only point of the game is to get 5 stars on each level.
My first gripe is the facebook connection. You can connect with facebook to play with friends but for some reason my iPad hates me and keeps telling me it can not connect to the server. Could be a bug or could be my iPad being moody and not wanting to play nice.
My second gripe is that you can not sync the iPad game with the computer games. This annoys me since I am not going to repeat levels due to where I may be playing. So if you are like me you will have to pick either play the computer version or the iPad version.
