I know I have not blogged about my driving in awhile but I figure you all don’t wait to hear about my daily practicing. I have gone out daily even if just to the corner store and twice a week we have a sitter so we can go out for an hour without the kids to practice. Last night was one of those nights.
The sitter arrived and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. There was a thunderstorm going on and we all know I am terrified of thunderstorms. However she was here and I figured sometimes I will have to drive no matter the weather. So off we went. I had a great route planned out but then it ends up there was bumper to bumper traffic on that route. So instead we drove over to our nearest Chapters to find a new book to read (unsuccessful mission).
Our time was up and we had to get home to relieve the sitter. First I went to the bank to get out money to pay her then we headed home. We were at an intersection where I had a yield sign to turn right onto a busy street. On coming traffic had a red light but the street I was coming from did have a green.
There was a car turning left from the opposite direction of me. I cautiously waited at my yield as I am all about safety and I wasn’t sure what this driver was going to do. Tobei told me it was ok to go as the car should be turning into the farther lane, giving me the closer lane. I slowly creeped forward still having not yet made up my mind and what do you know, that car is right in front of me. He did not take the lane he was supposed to and instead came right into my lane.
Thanks to being a cautious driver and never assuming what others will do I avoided an accident. My Young Drivers instructor taught me to never assume what another driver will do and thanks to that golden rule I avoided an accident.
Chalk that up to another mark on my I rock this driving thing record. Now to wait for the 27th when I go do my actual road test. I can not wait. I can taste the freedom.
