Today I am 32 weeks pregnant. That means only 8 more weeks to go. I love how I said only like it is no big deal. I know from being pregnant with Big Brother that this is going to be the longest 8 weeks of my life.
Now I am pretty darn sure I am not the only one who wants to cry when she steps on the scale during pregnancy. I try to avoid the scale at all costs but there are times where curiosity wins out. With Big Brother I gained 50 pounds in my pregnancy. So far with Little Brother I have gained 40 pounds. Well I sure the heck am not having a 40 pound baby.
So where does all this weight come from?
Well I took to Google because I am awesome like that. Here is what I found out.
- 7 1/2 pounds is about how much the baby will weigh by the end of pregnancy.
- 1 1/2 pounds is how much the placenta weighs.
- 4 pounds is attributed to increased fluid volume.
- 2 pounds is the weight of the uterus.
- 2 pounds is the weight of breast tissue.
- 4 pounds is because of increased blood volume.
- 7 pounds is attributed to maternal stores of fat, protein and other nutrients.
- 2 pounds for the amniotic fluid.
- Total: 30 pounds
So I am 10 pounds over that math. But I can say that “the girls” have gained more than 2 pounds. I have gone from a C to who knows. Last bra I bought a few months ago was an E. When that one no longer fit I quit wasting the money until this kid is born. Sports bras are what I am currently living in. I am sure I got another couple pounds sitting in my bladder as I pee every 20 minutes. Then I suppose in respecting full disclosure I will admit the rest of the weight is thanks to me playing the card “But I am eating for 2” and “But Little Brother wants chocolate”.
I can’t complain too much, I am pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy at that. However I am not looking forward to when this pregnancy is over and I go shopping for a treadmill. That purchase is going to hurt the bank account and make me cry. I know I could always walk outside but this is Canada and baby is due October 31st which is just about the time snow will start flying around here.
