I remember sitting here on December 31st, 2012 and it hitting me that we were about to enter 2013. The number 13 has always been considered a lucky number for me. I always look forward to every Friday the 13th. It is always a good day for me. I know this had to mean 2013 would be my year. I did not want to jinx it though. We had been through so much in the past couple years and we were ready for it to be our time and life to be good for us. I quietly mentioned this to Tobei but kept it to myself. Now that I am sitting here on December 31st 2013 and am 45 minuets away from 2014 I can say what an amazing year.
Most people blog their greatest posts of the year. But for me I want to share my greatest moments from the year.
2007-2012 Saw many things for Tobei and I. Deployments, custody battles, criminal cases where I was a victim and so much more.
2013 started off with us finding out my ex wanted to sign his rights over to Big Brother. We jumped and held our breath as we hired a lawyer to help us out in the adoption process. Tobei has always been Big Brother’s father, raising him since he was 5 months old. However Father’s Day of 2013 had us celebrating with adoption papers signed by a judge in our hands. It was the greatest Father’s Day ever.
July saw my sister getting married. It was an eventful trip getting there and we arrived in her town under a tornado warning and had the wind go crazy knocking out all the power just as we arrived at the hotel. Here I was facing one of my greatest fears and having to face it head on while staying calm for my children. We had all 3 boys with us on that trip. It turned out to be amazing weather on my sisters beautiful day.
2013 also brought us something Tobei and I had been wishing to happen for many years. The chance to finally get married. After 6 years we successfully found his ex and got her to sign divorce papers. I am looking forward to officially becoming his wife in May 2014.
We also got another amazing chance at something we had been hoping for. Our oldest is finally being integrated into our family. He loves his brothers and they love him. It has been an amazing year of me getting to know him and having him be a part of our family. It is an amazing feeling to have our family complete.
What else, so much has happened it is kind of crazy. I became a fully licensed driver FINALLY! I then successfully purchased my very first vehicle all on my own. We brought our oldest to meet an actor from his favourite movie series… Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter. We watched Big Brother turn 6 and Little Brother turn 2.
Though we had many many highs and fantastic moments in 2013 I still am very thankful for the moment that changed my life watching Drew Dudley speak at Blissdom Canada.
2013 was an amazing year and I am kind of sad to see it go. But here is to many great moments in 2014!
