Spring is in the air and it’s time to break out the cleaning supplies and get your house back in order! Spring cleaning has always been a hot topic, but you always hear the same things; organizing, cleaning tricks, etc. How about talking about places that many people forget to clean while completing their spring cleaning to do list?
Let’s check out a few of these places!
- Shower Curtain
Shower curtains are one of the dirtiest things in your bathroom, and I bet you barely think about it, or think about cleaning it unless it’s visually dirty. Its home to millions of little microorganisms that don’t get washed away from the water that hits it. This spring be sure to scrub down that curtain and liner to get rid of those germs. - Bottom of the Cabinets
While you’re organizing cabinets and closets, be sure to clean the area before finishing. Often times the bottom of cabinets and the floors in closets are forgotten about, but throughout the year they get dirty and messy, before finishing the area, be sure to clean it well and then place the items back in. - Behind/Under the Refrigerator
Everyone cleans out the refrigerator, as well as the oven, and other appliances in the kitchen, but when is the last time that you cleaned under them? Behind them? Pull out those kitchen appliances and get cleaning! Be sure to also clean the coils on your refrigerator so that it runs more efficiently. - Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans seems to be forgotten about. You often can’t see the dust on top of the blades, but it’s there and accumulates quickly. Make sure to clean those when going through rooms. - Baseboards/Woodwork
As you do the normal cleaning, be sure to clean the baseboards and woodwork in your home. Just like floors, these things can attract dust and germs just as easily. - Salt and Pepper Shakers
This is an odd one, but studies show that there are many germs on these in just about everyone kitchen. Have you ever cleaned your salt and pepper shaker? Most of us say no, and that means there are plenty of germs to go around on them. - Under the Bed
You clean the closets, the floors, dust everything, etc. But have you cleaned under your bed lately? If not, you’ll notice that it’s very dusty. The dead skin cells that fall off (I know, this is gross) gradually make their way under your bed, through your mattress, turn to dust, and they won’t go away until you vacuum them up! - Exterior and Interior Windows
Sometimes this is remembered with spring cleaning, but this is still another to add to the list in each room! Don’t forget the inside and outside of the windows! (Although the outside of them might involve a bit more work.) - Behind/Under the Washer and Dryer
Similar to the kitchen appliances, people often clean the inside of the washing machine when it starting looking grimy around the lid, but have you checked under it? Between the washer and dryer? Behind it? Pull them out and you just might find all of those long lost socks! - Reusable Bags
The recycling trend is growing and many people use the plastic or canvas reusable bags, but have you ever cleaned them? All of the items that you put in them come from a store where at least five other people have touched it already. All of those germs add up, clean those reusable bags often!
